The GiantSteps tempo dataset
has been around for more than 2 years now, but has never been properly verified.
I'd love to do that as part of my PhD at
AudioLabs Erlangen,
but unfortunately I can't do it alone.
Therefore I am looking for volunteers like you to tap along to some of the dataset's tracks.
This will allow me to verify the original annotations.
This experiment is organized into blocks of 110 excerpts, but
every submission is valuable.
Even if you just tap along to 5 songs.
Once enough data is gathered, the results of this experiment will be published in a
corresponding academic paper.
Tap Along!
Please use the space bar to tap along to the beat of the song.
This will measure the song's tempo.
Tap as steadily as possible. Every single tap is recorded.
Tap for the whole 30s of the track, if possible.
Do not skip beats.
Click on Next to proceed to the next song.
Click on Try Again, if the red rectangle does not turn green before the song is over.
If you cannot determine the tempo, because there is no beat or the rectangle does not turn green,
tap as well as you can, then check the No Beat box and click on Next.
Tracks can be expected to be faster than 50 BPM and slower than 210 BPM.
Don't tap too many tracks in one session. Take breaks to keep your sanity!
